This is a wonderful video. Most people that I’ve spoken to about this issue
do not seem to completely understand what it means to have certain
privileges and do not even acknowledge that they have them. People find it
much easier to see what they don’t have instead of what they do have, even
if the privileges someone has can affect their whole life. When speaking
about privilege, the response I often hear is “I’m not privileged because I
worked hard for what I have” but these people fail to see that having
privilege does not mean that they did not work hard. Of course someone with
a good job and good education worked hard to get those things, but specific
pieces of that person’s identity may have given them the opportunity to
achieve these things.?
